Welcome to RITUAL: a simple-but-powerful, self-paced video series, available for free! (no email opt-in required.)

You can watch this 5-part series in less than an hour (including time to write and integrate the material) - or you might ‘bookmark’ this page and watch the videos as you’re ready. The choice is yours, always.

Please note: closed captioning is available for all videos.

an introduction

RITUAL step 1

[video recap] what’s your purpose?

We’ll start by determining your purpose: Why are you here? Why do you wish to practice?

If you know the answer, write it down! Otherwise, consider these questions:

  • how are you feeling right now in this moment?

  • how do you feel in your body, your heart-space, your head?

  • how do you wish to feel after practice?

  • how do you want to feel in your body, your heart-space, your head?

RITUAL step 2

[video recap] what’s possible?

Next we’ll identify your ideal practice + consider what’s possible inside your real-life.

There’s a BOTH/AND element at play here: How do you imagine your ritual practice in your ideal life? And how can it show up right now, in your real-life?

First, consider -

  • how often do you want to practice?

  • what time of day?

  • for how long?

Remember, how often + for how long you practice doesn’t matter as much as the energy you bring to the table (and your devotion to showing up).

Second, consider -

  • how do you generally feel inside your real-life?

  • is your ideal practice possible right now?

  • if not, which parts can you make possible inside real-life?

Remember, your real-life moves in cycles, meaning: what’s possible in your real-life right now will likely be different from what was last year + what will be possible next year.

RITUAL step 3

[video recap] find your rhythm

These “strategies” come from the art+science of habit-making. I recommend that you start with only ONE.

OPTION 1: Connect your ritual practice with a daily activity. (This is helpful if your daily schedule often changes.)

  • before I brush my teeth, I will take 10 breaths.

  • as my coffee cools, I will move my body.

  • during my lunch break, I will meditate for 10 minutes.

  • while the kids nap, I will practice 1 restorative pose.

  • before I go to sleep, I will say a prayer.

OPTION 2: Select a time of day that you will practice every day + set an alarm. (This is helpful if your daily schedule stays the same most days.)

OPTION 3: Determine a Sacred Ceremony to begin every practice. (This is helpful if your practice space is part of shared space.)

  • light a candle

  • diffuse oils

  • say a prayer

  • take 3 breaths

  • repeat a mantra

Remember that you’re not married to any of your choices here! You can change them as you learn more about what you want+need.

But it’s helpful to have a starting place, something to commit to RITUAL.
